Hope we're all keeping up! The chancellor announced more changes to the COVID support for businesses yesterday.
Central to the announcement is that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), known by many as "furlough", will now run until the end of March. Employees will receive 80% of their current salary for hours not worked until a review at the end of January, whereupon they will decide if employers should begin increasing contributions again. There are currently no employer contribution to wages for hours not worked. Employers will only be asked to cover National Insurance and employer pension contributions for hours not worked. For an average claim, this accounts for just 5% of total employment costs or £70 per employee per month.
Please contact us as soon as possible to confirm any employees you may be placing on furlough, as well as any hours they may be continuing to work.
