The so called Job Retention "Bonus" which would have seen a one off £1,000 payment to employers for each employee previously furloughed and retained throughout January 2021, has been scrapped. This comes after the chancellor extended the Job Support scheme through to Spring 2021 yesterday.
Rishi Sunak has said that when the time is appropriate, the government will look to extend a "retention incentive" at the appropriate time, which one would assume will be after the end of the CJRS next year. However with the number of changes in what is an ever evolving situation, there can be no guarantees that this incentive will ever become a reality.
